Cafepress - Maintaining profit

Now that you have a premium shop that has exposure, you will need to do several things to maintain profitability.

1. Keywords and Descriptions - Make sure that you tag you images with the appropriate keywords (this is how you get found in the CP market place). Make sure you provide descriptions for your products and sections (this is how you will get found on Google and other search engines)

2. Update you site - Keep adding designs to you site, or at least review you keywords and descriptions on a weekly basis.

3. Try to get links to you shop from other internet sites, preferably of the same subject matter. This will create a higher ranking in search engines.

4. Create affiliate banners for you products. - Cafepress offers you the opportunity to have your products sold by other Cafepress members.

This was a basic guide summarising the techniques l used to create better exposure for my Cafepress shop.

Cafepress - Up and running

Having had opened my cafepress premium shop for almost a year now l can honestly say that it has been a rewarding experience. With a bit of time an effort you can reap some significant financial rewards. In my case l made about $3000 in a year (a nice little bonus). I would say that effort is inversely proportional to profit, the more time you spend on your store the better the chance of increasing you profits. There are a few things l recommend you do to maintain a health profit. To be continued……

Cafepress - Opening a premium shop

Having gained confidence i thought l would open a premium shop which would require an annual cost of $70US a year. l could live with that. So l created my premium shop if you want to check it out here is the address http://www.cafepress.com/rayc6 (you will see what mean by armature graphic :) Creating a premium shop leads to a number of benefits.

1. You can fully customise the look of the shop. Granted you need some above average web knowledge. However there is plenty of help available in the forums.

2. You can create as many designs as you like on any number of merchandising items.

These are two of the major benefits that l have found to be the most appealing.

Cafepress - Introduction

l first heard about Cafepress from a friend. l work in I.T. and decided l would try something different to suppliment my income. Now l had my doubts about how succesful l would be. To make thinks worse l reside in Australia and CP is an American based company. Anyway l decided to set myself up a create a free shop. After providing them with some standard personal information l opened up several free shops and put up a few designs.

About the designs l am no graphic designer so it took me a week or so of playing around with a graphic design tool come up with some design l thought may catch the eye of a potential buyer.

My odds of making a sale were quiet slim considering you are competing against 6.5 million other people with skills ranging from professional to amature. Low and behold l made a sale!
It just goes to show how big the internet really is...... to be contined....
